I. Product positioning
Jinshan Trend 5.01 is an Expert Advisor (EA) running on MetaTrader 5, built around trend-following plus grid averaging, extended with dynamic spacing contraction, direction-level auto hedging, multi-layer exit rules and a dark-gold visual panel. It suits medium-to-long swing trading on strongly trending instruments such as gold and major forex pairs.
It evolved from the original grid EA (v4.80), went through the v4.90 UI revamp and the v5.00 introduction of hedging and spacing contraction, and in v5.01 was formally renamed "Jinshan Trend 5.01" with a unified magic number (51888) — a complete commercial EA product.
II. Core modules
Entries & lot sizing — Long+short / long-only / short-only / stop opening; three lot modes (multiplier / increment / list), and when the list runs out it continues indefinitely on the multiplier; two configurable entry time windows.
Grid spacing — Base spacing plus a doubling mechanism (adjustable multiplier, capped number of doublings), plus dynamic contraction: once one direction exceeds the starting order count, every further order tightens spacing by 5% down to a 50% floor, and the base spacing is locked on first trigger.
Exit rules — Average-price take-profit line (visible close line), per-side total profit threshold, profit/loss pairing close, combined floating-profit close-all, combined floating-loss close-all — five layers of exit logic.
Auto hedging — When one side's floating loss reaches the threshold the EA hedges in the opposite direction; conditional unlock (floating-loss recovery % plus favourable price distance), force-unlock after N days, restart recovery, re-lock cooldown (adverse distance), pause seconds after unlocking; hedge orders are isolated with magic+1.
Risk filters — Max lots / max orders per side / max total orders; three configurable filter sessions (they only block first entries); daily profit stop amount with optional close-all once reached; cooling minutes after a floating-loss close-all.
Trend detection — A 5/20 SMA crossover defines the trend; during a trend transition the old basket is managed separately (only top up the old direction, no new direction), and normal operation resumes once the old basket is empty.
Visual UI — Dark-gold canvas panel showing account / positions / spacing / trend / status in real time; nine vertical action buttons on the right (add long / add short, close longs / close shorts / close all, hedge / unhedge, pause, shut down the EA).
III. Dark-gold panel layout
Top: gold gradient title bar "◆ Jinshan Trend EA 5.01 ◆"
Account block: account number, balance, equity, sizing mode (multiplier / fixed)
Position block: floating P/L (whole account), floating percentage, long/short order counts and lots, long/short P/L
Next entry price: long entry price (green), short entry price (red)
Risk block: liquidation threshold, floating-profit close-all, average-price TP, P/L pairing, daily profit stop, filter-session status
Spacing & trend block: long spacing, short spacing, current trend, transition state
Status block: manual hedge / auto hedge / paused / daily target hit / cooling / running
Right-side buttons: nine vertical keys on a dark base, text and border colours split by function (red = long, green = short, amber = close, bright red = close all, purple = hedge/pause, cyan = shutdown)
IV. Highlights
Dynamic spacing contraction (new in v5.00): classic grids get wider as they add orders; this EA tightens spacing once one direction accumulates orders, improving recovery in dense markets, with a 50% floor to prevent over-density and the base spacing locked on first trigger.
Direction-level auto hedging: hedge orders are isolated with magic+1 so they do not distort main-grid statistics; unlocking uses two conditions (floating-loss recovery percentage plus favourable price distance) together with a re-lock cooldown (adverse distance) to avoid lock/unlock churn; it supports force-unlock after N days, restart recovery and a pause on new entries after unlocking.
Trend-transition management: when the moving averages flip, the old-direction basket enters "transition management" — only the old direction is topped up, no new direction is opened, and normal operation resumes once that basket is empty, preventing two-way loss of control at trend turns; the g_entry_transition_active and g_conversion_active state machines keep the transition control flow explicit.
Five-layer exit logic: visible close line (price cross plus equality) → per-side total profit threshold (converted with the per-lot tick value) → P/L pairing close → combined floating-profit close-all → combined floating-loss close-all (with cooling), tightening step by step.
Full expert logging: entries, exits, risk triggers, hedge/unhedge and trend transitions are all written in a structured form (can be disabled by parameter) for review and audit.
Restart recovery: after a restart the EA recognises existing hedge orders, restores the manual/auto hedge state and keeps the spacing-contraction baseline in sync.
Backtest friendly: the canvas panel is switched off in non-visual backtests and redraws are throttled to 250 ms, which noticeably speeds up testing.
V. Suitable market conditions
Instrument: gold (XAUUSD) and major forex pairs with trending behaviour
Timeframe: M15–H4 medium-to-long swing
Market: clear trends, or one-way / upward-sloping ranges with pullbacks that are not deeply trapped
Risk notice
Grid averaging amplifies floating loss quickly in an extreme one-way counter-trend market; the combined floating-loss close-all (default USD 6,000) is the last line of defence — always size it to your account.
The auto-hedge trigger (default USD 5,000) should stay below the close-all threshold, so the hedge buffers the position before the close.
The last lot-list entry multiplied indefinitely grows very fast with many orders — always enable the max-lot / max-order limits.
With SMA detection switched off the EA degrades into a pure grid and trend-transition protection is gone — use with care.
Test on demo first. No profit is guaranteed; trading carries risk and you are responsible for your own results.
